ok guys... im a bit of a noob to all this. i built my pc back in november, and specs are
Intel core 2 duo E6400 with a Thermaltake freezer 7 pro
Asus P5W DH deluxe mobo
MSI 7900gtx 512mb ddr3
2gb ocz gold RAM
Samsung 250gb hd and black cdrw/dvd combo
NEC dvd writer
Hyper 530w

ok... so.. no 1
in the asus ai booster, it says 28*c for cpu and 38*c for system
in speedfan i get the same
but... in coretemp, it says:
CPU#0: temperature readings
Tjunction 85*c
core#0 39*c
core#1 41*c

is this right.. how come the apparent temp of the cpu in coretemp is much higher than speedfan and the asus program? which is right?

next q.
i have been using the asus ai booster to overclock the pc. only slightly, about 10%. but someone told me before that its not very stable. is it ok to use the program to do it, or do i need to to it manually in the bios? i dont like fiddling with things i dont understand in there. and as the asus ai booster overclock seemed fine, is there much point in fiddling manually?

lastly. i have 2 sets of OCZ 1GB Kit (2x512MB) 240Pin PC2-5400 667MHz Dual Channel DDR 2 Gold GX XTC (i.e. 4x 512mb sticks)

the first set, i put in when i built the pc, in slot 1+3
and the 2nd set, i put in about a week or 2 ago in slot 2+4

now. using cpu-z, it seems that the ram timings are different for the 2 sets.. is this right, and are these the optimum settings? if now, how do i go about changing them to make them quicker or more efficient without mullering the ram and/or pc..

thanks for any help to any of the q's. happy new year too :)

Definetely use the BIOS for OC if you can. Ai booster is easy to use but it changes settings on the fly which makes it unstable sometimes. Besides there are a lot more options you can tweak in BIOS which allows you to OC higher.

With regards to temperature I would trust the coretemp as it is the most accurate monitoring program atm.

To set the memory timings manually there is no other way but to change it in BIOS. As long as all 4 sets are identical you should be able to set the same timings.
