Just a little question

Hi
yesterday I got a new laptop that has WiFi on it, although at the moment I do not have route are so therefore I can use it although when I turn the WiFi on it is able to locate other people's routers within my street and some of them are not secure therefore I am able to log into the to access the Internet.
What I'm wondering is whether this is illegal?
