hi guys

I will start by wishing you all a happy new year

I have been looking at different options for my new hardware. I have decided on my motherboard is to be a asus m5478l-m and my processor will be AMD FX630.

I hope I have chose well as my case ( which I really like and not going to part with) supports micro ATX motherboard.

My questions are will I be able to over clock my cpu using that board.
2. The cpu and board are compatible?
3. What is the most I will get out of the cpu.

If the board is not appropriate can u recommend another micro ATX board that is better and will do the job please

Regards
Harrism.

The board and cpu are compatible if its this one - M5A78L-M/USB3

If its this one then its not - M4A78LT-M LX

But I just dont like any of the mATX boards for the AM3+ platform as they lack features and I feel are not well designed for the CPU which put heavy demand on the boards power stage.

That's an issue with going AMD at the moment, they have VERY little in the way of mATX board, none of them, are really up to overclocking.

Thanks for the info it does not leave me with much choice i know but i really want to keep my current case any suggestions on something for the same price but intel?

Your going to have to make sacrifices to go to Intel. As a bigger budget isn't an option its whether you go for a non OCable i3 setup or an OCable pentium K.

The difference is the i3 has more virtual cores 4 opposed to 2 (due to hyper threading). The pentuim K though (while only having 2 cores) is highly overclockable. So in single threaded games (like WoW ect..) It is up there with the i5s and i7s when overclocked. 4.4ghz is pretty achievable on the stock cooler.

As the pentium is cheap too, it allows you to grab a Z97 board, this gives you the option to drop in a 4690k in the future and OC it ...
