Morning all!

Havnt set up any network things for a while so wondering if someone can just tell me if im correct or not.

Ive got a Netgear DG834N wireless dsl router but now need to connect more pcs and network printers. If I get the Netgear GS116 16-Port Gigabit Switch this will allow me to expand by just connecting the dg834n to the gs116 via network cable (crossover?). I shouldnt have any problems with the switch using the network already in place?

Thanks in advance guys.

won't even need a crossover, just plug any cable in

older switches may have needed crossovers, but nowadays you could put the pins in any order and the nic's will work it out

Excellent.

Yeah I was thinking about the crossover bit, most units now auto detect the cable...yeah?

Cheers for the re-assurance :)

The switch specifications state - Full duplex capability, auto-sensing per device, auto-negotiation, auto-uplink (auto MDI/MDI-X), store and forward, wall mountable.

Auto-uplink (auto MDI/MDI-X) means you can use a normal cable and it will auto sense that its an uplink port from any of the ports on the switch.
