currently got 4x1GB Geil ULL 6400, i have my Q6600 under a tuniq at 3825, im aiming for 4gig but temps rocket and then i bsod and shut down at 4gig

im thinking of getting 2x2GB and change the tuniq tower to an ultra extreme. would changing the ram help in any way in this case?

reason im asking is im buidling a home server and need ram, i was gonna get 8500 stuff for my main rig and move over the geil into the server.

i know if i get 2x2's it leaves me 2 free slots if i want to go for 8gig later in life but who needs 8gig atm.

either way im gonna need to spend money on new ram for 1 of the 2 pc's

2x1gig sticks are meant to clock better than 4x1gig as there is less stress on the mobo. I used 4x1gig on the Formula SE for clocking just as well as 2x1gig.

I have no idea how well the 2gig ram sticks will clock though. Haven't used them, but mobo wise they shouldn't be a problem.
