ok just bought some realy old 'cambridge soundworks' speakers which consists of 4 'tweeters' and a little subwoofer....but im looking for a program that i can run to organise the speakers as at current only the front two are producing any sound thats loud enough to hear !

so any free program that i could use to mange the speakers would be perfect!!

i use to own a set of cambridge sound works 5.1's (creative). i had the same problem, one of the speakers died but the rest all worked. think it was just broken, no fixing it

ah yea im using them on a latop which may not support them, i think they're 5.1 , but although the front two can easily be heard i can hear music being played out of the back two but just very quietly

Do the speakers use a lead with 3 3.5mm jacks, orange black and green? That's the common connection for multi channel analogue. Laptops to my knowledge do not support multi channel sound, unless more modern ones do, meaning you can only connect the green, which is for the left right channels.

Ah, they must be 4.1 then. Likely you have line out for headphones or speakers, and microphone in ports on the laptop. Nothing can be done about it I'm afraid, either unplug the rear 2 speakers from the sub and use it as 2.1, or use them as they are. Although probably no point having speakers connected that hardly make any sound. Up to you though. :)

There are loads to choose from like the TerraTec Aureon 5.1 USB Sound card but much sure you get one with physical speaker outs and not just 5.1/7.1 over dolby headphones as you will be back to swuare one.
