Just a thought about switching cores

if i change from a single core fx57 to a dual core fx60 will i need to change any software or reinstall windows, ive got the asus crossfire board, so i know its dual core enabled, but with it being a different kind of chip is there anything i need to no apart from swap them over, just thought id ask cause im thinking of changing it tomorrow, dont want to loose all my stuff as ive just got everything running sweet
 
no you won't need to. windows will detect the processor change and you won't need to do anything. Just swap them :)

There are some settings you might want to change, I think there's a windows dual core patch which sorts out some timing issues and I doubt you use it having an FX but if you use cool & quiet, disable it.

You might need a bios update to support fx60 too, there's no reason why you should need to reinstall though which I guess is what you;re getting at.

By the way it's just been made law that you HAVE to push it way past 3ghz :D
