As in title really, and I'm going to be using my current IDE HDD :)

Am I forgetting anything or will it all run as sweet as a nut (touch wood)? As for overclocking I haven't bought an after market cooler for the CPU as I dont think I'm going to be clocking it too high, should I perhaps get the lower model s3 mobo? The Antec Sonata II says 1-3 days availability, I assume I will receive everything all together :p

Thanks In Advance

Kiz

Everything you need will be there, it seems a bit of a shame not to overclock much but I'd still say stick with the DS3 as it allows more potential in the future should you change your mind.

I believe OcUK normally dispatch everything together but I don't know that for certain.

Wicked thanks, as for the overclocking, I haven't really got the time atm what with final year of uni an all, but if I find some free time over a weekend I will give it a shot :D

Thanks as always semi-pro-waster :D

Just got it, put it all together sweet as a nut...problem is, the IDE cable isnt long enough, to accomodate my IDE HDD and my DVD-RW drive......AAAAAAARGH

To get it installed I'd consider putting the hard drive on top of the DVD drive for the moment while you order a longer IDE cable, bit unfortunate but most people have moved to SATA hard drives which means it isn't a problem.

Yeah that's true, I was going to order a new SATA drive, but I'm a bit short on cash atm, so I didn't order it. Is SATA really that much better than IDE? I'm quite happy for the moment as my Seagate IDE HDD has served me well :)

SATA is supposedly marginally faster although in everyday use you will hardly notice the difference, the main benefits at present are that the cables are neater and that each device goes on it's own chain. :)

Ah kool, thanks

One more thing,

I have put everything together perfectly, though I am just trying to find my windows xp cd (typical). I have tried to start the computer with the current HDD, but it doesnt seem to want to go into windows. it gets to the screen saying choose Last knows good configuration, start windows normally etc screen, but then when I select the option I want it doesnt boot windows. Perhaps its because I didn't uninstall the old drivers, for the mobo, AGP, etc?

I have tried safe mode but that didn't work, it just restarts :/. I haven't tried a repair, but I suppose I'll just have to find my cd and format. Would have been nice to just be able to go on without having to install everything again, though a new start can't hurt :)

Let me know how you get on with this as I was about to order almost exactly the same things :)

It's the best choice I have made for a while, everything fitted a doddle, and it works a treat (bar a few teething problems ;)) :D

Thanks OcUK once again for superb service!
