I currently have 2 x 2GB sticks of Patriot Viper memory. I'd like to upgrade to 8Gb. Should I just get another 2 x 2GB sticks to make 8 or would I be better getting 2 x 4Gb, as that seems more available and upgrading to 12Gb of memory.

Also my current memory is PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel. If I get memory to add to this, does it need to be the same.

It's best if it's as close as possible to the current stuff, as you'll have to run the settings of whichever pair is the slower.

This means memory speed (1600) and timings (the first one being 7 clock cycles, the others aren't so important).
