Stop restricting legit conversation. Ok so you won't allow club threads but stop being so overzealous and allow the occasional bit of chat about specific clubs.

It's healthy for the forum and mods who keep locking threads mid conversation isn't helping anyone.

at least you can see the probem unlike some others, the problem was that thread got took over by about 4 folks to the exclusion of others

I don't see how people are excluded just because 4 people are having a discussion. Anyone is free to just jump in.

And obviously the biggest stories are going to be discussed. It just so happens that most of the stories come from Man Utd. So you can either allow the discussions to take place or just ban talk about Man Utd altogether.

I'm obviously not a United fan but welcome talk about individual clubs without the threat of conversations being cut short by mods locking threads.

If King Kenny announced that Suarez might want to leave at the end of the season would that be discussed in the transfer thread? If RvP came out and said he didn't want to sign a new contract would that be discussed in the transfer thread? Obviously, yes. So there is no problem with Fergie saying Berbatov might want to leave in the summer for first team football.

+1

yes there were RTMs but I am not going to tell them that

These people RTM'ing people talking about clubs seriously need to get a life and you don't have to give in and agree with them.

They're not allowed for the same reasons as when you asked the question last month in the Wenger thread, Rotty gives a fair summary of the main reasons here.

Rotty said:
They stifle discussion ???
They create sub groups of members Fans?
They attract trolls So ban them?
They lead to others accusing non supporters of trolling I think we all get along quite well enough to not do this
They lead to reduced numbers of threads and topics being lost There's a limited number of threads anyway
Supporters of smaller clubs feel left out Boo hoo
The threads become fragmented where successive posts often are nothing to do with each other Like the current large threads?
They are near impossible to moderate because they are hard to follow Like the current large threads and people will RTM offending posts

There are probably well over 100 folks use this forum and less that 10 that don't like the way it is, as usual the majority keep quiet in these matters and that normally indocates that they are happy with things

I'd say there are about 30 regular posters. The rest are people who just pop up on rare occassions to say how well or how badly their team has done.

Half of which have posted in this thread and most of them aren't happy with the way threads are locked willy nilly.
