Hi guys,

About 3 days ago I migrated from 2meg bulldog to Max with demon.

At first I was getting 830kb/sec~ in the morning when I first got connected, and infact most mornings I try.. but in the days / evenin the speeds aren't very good at all. Infact I just ran a speedtest and the maximum I could get is 150kb/sec. When downloading from good sources the speed jumps around a lot and is pretty damn slow really. I am still on the first 10 days... is this normal?

I think i'd rather be on 2meg and get 240kb/sec throughout the entire day!

for the first 10 days then it should stabilize but it will still fluctuate a bit once it has stabilized as it is adaptive.

you poor chap i have just got rid of demon to their lack off support! or should i say if its not on their script they wont understand you or fix it! anyway just migrated accross to Aquiss and my god what a superb service! cmr service A1 speed A1 reliabilty A1 what more can you ask for? If you want all mentioned i suggest you get rid of demon and go here www.aquiss.net

During the first ten days make sure you
1 break the connection once a day.
2 leave the router/modem connected 24/7 if possible.
3 Run regular speed checks through the BT speedtester.
This logs the results for BT and your ISP in case you have a problem after the 10 days.

If you're downloading at 830KB/sec in the mornings then there's nothing wrong with your line. Your line stats are obviously pretty good.

The 10 day "training period" will make absolutely no difference. It's nothing more than a 10 day period of statistic gathering for BT and the ISP. After 10 days you should not see anything different.

In short, welcome to MaxDSL with BT. I would guess that your exchange is pretty congested.
