Just been made redundant...............:(

i find it strange that they would want to train and induct a whole new set of staff . especially if youve been doing a good job

with a good rep for food is there not anywhere else local you can approach about a job ?

the rumour of ''head chef from xxxxx place works here now'' could do them some good and having a job will obviously do yourself some good

My guess is they are going to hire a bunch of Poles or whoever at minimum wage. Seen it happen around here a few times. new "investors" (i.e. money grubbing cheapskates) buy a distressed business for cheap off an owner upt o the eye balls in debt or whatever, the fire everyone and hire a bunch of illegal mexicans. Quality drops off, people stop going and it closes down after a year. Sorry.

You really need proper advice on this, i'm sure TUPE has a place to play in this. I know from practical experience that you can't take the assets of a company and leave the staff behind.

Had.

Unless they bring back all the staff, then what does that reputation actually stand for? ;)

Unless everyone who has ever eaten there knows there are new owners and staff then it will keep its reputation.
I would guess less then 1% of the customers would ever know before going back based on reputation

I have been given a letter by my present boss from the liquidators saying the necessary forms to claim redundancy will be sent to me.

The same happened to me in 2009. Did 6½ years of 1st-line for a company, only for them to tell me with 24 hours notice that we were folding. Got the letters from the Insolvency Company like you said and claimed 1 week's pay for every year that I've worked. The 6½ years rounded down to 6 unfortunately. Be aware though that if you had no notice like I did, you will be able to claim the notice period too, so in the end I got 6 week's pay + a month's pay + any unspent holidays pro rata.

Then again like with you, my old company rebooted themselves as a smaller company re-employing a few of their old staff (the brown nosers ofc). It was basically just a way in getting rid of some of their staff.

You should probably take into account what I was actually replying to, as I was making the point that it is no longer "we" and he should change the way he thinks about that place. In any event, it completely sucks. I hope you get a new Job OP, I'm sure you'll be hired within the week. :)

Sad to hear this really and I'd hate to be in the same position.

My mate has been told he may be made redundant since the petrol station won't be rebuilt after a bus ran into/through it. Thankfully he stays at home but still has a car to pay for.

It's no wonder nobody wants to commit to buy things when you can lose your job so quickly :(

If the company is being liquidated or closed down and would owe you redundancy money, it depends under what circumstances they are winding it up. You can, I think, put in an objection to the company being wound up if it is solvent and owes you money for redundancy.

This is a trick companies use to wipe out what they owe. Someone associated usually comes along and buys it on behalf of the original owner.

Scum of the highest order do this.
