Just been made redundant...............:(

Well Ladies and Gentleman.

Had a meeting today. None of us (12 members of staff) have jobs anymore. We are all paid up correctly so wages etc are not a problem.

We of course will be entitled to redundancy pay. The liquidators are sending each member of staff the relevant forms.

The business is not opening for the time being. As it is in the hands of the liquidators for the next few weeks.

I have a few interviews lined up. So hopefully they will work out. Plus I have other people in the trade also looking around for me. Hopefully my long years of experience count for something in the catering trade.

Just a horrible feeling, after building up a good reputation for the last 8 years for this all to suddenly happen.

I feel pretty low at the moment, not as though I have been sacked for something I did wrong. You cannot blame yourself for this type of redundancy.

Anyhow...... life must go on...
 
Sorry to hear that.

Do you know what happened with the business? Was it failing behind the scenes that the staff didn't know about or is it just going to be revamped with new people behind it.

Then ask them if you can have a good reference. If you company has gone into liquidation and you have a good reputation you still should ok for another post somewhere. Especially if you were in the same company for 8 years.

1 of them I found out that after I spoke to them they have now decided to close and call it a day (lucky escape there + they never mentioned anything at the time)

2nd one, different, but a possibility, I will think about that one

3rd one, going to do a 'working interview shift' see how I get on. Quite like this one.

Update.

Still nothing. No reply from the one I did a 'working interview' at the other night.

Keep looking around, ringing places.

Going to see the bank and CAB today, see what they say.

Horrible place to be at at the moment.
 
Opstrat. Many thanks for the link, appreciated.

Plus on another note. Was offered two jobs today.
Both very similar money to what I was on.

So have taken the offer from one of them and will start in the next couple of days. Really looking forward to it. Should be a nice new challenge.
