They are about 6 years ahead of us, train stations have timers that count trains down to the last second, they had colour video phones when we were still in mono. Dat place is amazing

I've never seen a mono video phone in this country... unless I've not been looking very hard.

Though Japan are pretty well known for their excellent train system, I think.. :p

Please tell me you got a katana whilst you were there?

If one goes to Japan one must get a sword, if you for ones self, for me! :(

Dont know about the rest of you, but the samurai sword is one of the most beautiful things any man can make...

/Waits for all kinds of comments :)

Will it cut a man into two equal halves?

Wouldn't that be a problem at airport Customs? Especially in this state of heightened alert.

Just say it's a ceremonial sword. Works every time.

*note: I could be wrong, and the plods with the MP5s at most airports don't take kindly to weirdo air-travelers with long swords.

It's fine in a suitcase, just obviously don't try and take it as hand luggage.

Japan are so far ahead of us in some areas it's unreal. Mobile phones that you can use as a cash card at vending machines, a rail infrastructure that's light years ahead of ours, intelligent toilets that clean your backside for you, giant robots*... :p

*may not actually contain giant robots

FishFluff, you are forgetting that the majority of our railway infrastructure is 20+ years old? Some parts of the line have been there since the late 1800s.
