ok i am all set to order a graphics card , final piece of my new rig yyeeaahhh, get rid of this nasty fx53!
i was about to order 2 gecaube 256 mb 1950 pros , but checkout comes to £350
now looking at a evga 7950 gx2 overclock for £370 what should i do? evga or 2 x 1950 pros? this is a lot of cash for me , trust me to leave most expensive decition till last! just ordered a e6600...... so any ideas?
easy rider you have a evga ? what should i do ?
if say i got the evga and when on step up program , is 90 days the longest i will wait , or can i wait longer if the waiting list is say 120 days for a g80 upgrade , will i still get one?

If you are fine spending that amount of money then you may as well just get the eVGA GX2 and step up to G80 or the refresh (if your step up lasts that long) next year.

will evga have g80 out on there release day? they may suspect that a lot of people are buying 7950 just for that reason.......and hold off releasing it on the step up program , there is small print , that if evga has a shortage of a particular card they wont offer it on the step up program
do you think the g80 will be limited?

As said you would have 90 days to upgrade to G80, so I think you don't need to worry here. 90 days might even see you to a refresh (second-generation G80) depending on what ATI pull out of their hat next year.

Were I in your shoes, personally I would buy a GX2 and then upgrade it to whatever the best out is 80 days in. :p

P.S. Once you step up (to G80 or whatever) you won't be able to step up again from that without making an entirely fresh purchase, so try to make it last and draw it out as long as possible.

Agreed, you have 90 days, G80 is out in about 14, easily enough days left still. :)

90 days is going to run into next year.

Like Ulfhedjinn said depends what ati R600 does if it beats the G80 by a bit/lot then you get a early refresh as both seam want to beat each other and they seam to get the most out of their chips now after 1 or 2 refreshs
