every1s on about the 7970. is it as good as the 6990 im only being nosey just nobody seems to mention it
 
6990 may just edge it when stock, but an overclocked 7970 will win and be a lot more power efficient and cooler.
 
Your talking about comparing a 250 watt card to a 375 watt card even on 28nm there's only going to be one winner in terms of higher FPS. However if we were all be honest most of us would prefer the 7970, its not far of the pace, overclocks well and by all accounts is quieter (again 250 watts to shift vs 375 watts - what fan will have to spin faster?) you also have less to worry about profiles and drivers and stuttering.
