Just bought 5770 - Setup advice

I'm new to PC gaming but picked up some cheap games in the Steam sale along with a Saphire HD5770 after an afternoon of research. Looks fine on 32" Samsung TV playing in 1920 * 1080 but i'm not sure if i'm getting the best out of this card.

Should I put all the gfx to full in game settings?

I did this on Mirror's Edge and it runs fine until there loads of guys chasing me then it slows down and crashes. Installed MSI Afterburner and the gfx card doesn't look particularly stressed although my CPU is running at 90-100%

Any settings in the Catalyst software I should be playing with?

Try the 9.12 hotfix drivers, see if they help with the crashes, also check you've not got Physx effects on

Except for certain bits and pieces, you shouldnt really need to fiddle with the CCC much.
If the game is smooth enough, then by all means put the ingame graphics up until you feel they're not smooth enough!

Physx is On, I'll try it off.

It's just for nvidia cards right?

Well, it runs in software without them, but its purely CPU based without an NVidia card, which could be why your CPU usage is so high
