just bought a 2nd car

What 'Schnitzer pack'? It's probably just a load of stick on tat and won't add anything to the value of the car at that age. With all the replica AC Schnitzer gear around it would probably put me off I reckon. ;)

It's a factory pack I do believe, I think it is pretty much bolt on stuff, no engine tuning or anything. Looks nice tho I think :).

I fail to see why this is a better buy for the money than a 2 litre Ford Mondeo or a Honda Accord or a VW Passat or... heck, anything. And I love BMW's!

I do laugh at the 'YEA BUT MY BIKE IS FAST' comments. Quite what that has to do with spending 3 grand on a prefacelift 318i I've no idea.

I wish I could get 3k for my 10 year old Accord. :(

And they aren't badly specced standard either. Digital climate control, cruise control, auto dimming mirrors, electric windows all round with remote closure, heated electric mirrors, passenger mirror moves down when in reverse so you don't scuff the wheels, parking sensors, leather multi function wheel etc

lolwut?

Cruise, Climate, auto-dimming mirrors, OBC, parking sensors and all the other stuff isn't well-specced?
I think OP's has leather, too.

It won't have cruise, passenger mirror parking, parking sensors or a multifunction wheel unless the were specced and bought as an option when new, the car in GT3's image is a facelift model where they added those things as standard in the UK.

Not sure if they did an actual 'pack' to be honest - there was an AC Schnitzer catalogue where you could buy extra things like spoilers, mirrors, wheels, exhaust (although made by Remus I think) plus more in the UK via BMW - mainly aesthetic things. I had a 325ci with some of the stuff on it, it looked ok but getting a bit dated now in my opinion. Also the far eastern market has flooded the UK with knock off products which means it's hard to tell what's 'real' or not, not that it makes much difference with a few bits of plastic. ;)

Wrong.

Late pre-facelift had these all standard. Mine was 2001 Y same as OP.

Interesting, well it depends if he has the triangle airbag steering wheel or not as 2001 Y doesn't tell us anything about when it was manufactured. I'm just going on what my 328 had - I assumed they facelifted the lights at the same time as the other changes as far as I know they all happened in 2001. Yours must have been in the middle somewhere GT3. :)

Yes I think beginning of 2001 all those changes were made and facelift was late 2001 on 51 plate.

Edit: Could be when they changed the lights from having orange indicator lenses to clear?

It's not so much the idea of a 318i that I dislike, it's just that particular model. The later facelift models look better, have a better engine etc. But the prefacelift ones just.. well.. I just cant see the point as a £3k buy. Whats it supposed to do?

If it was slow but totally reliable and economical then cool, I get the point. If it was not very economical but quite quick, ok, I get the point, etc etc. But this is neither. It just smacks of buying 'A BMW' when in reality something else half the age would be better for the job of just being 'some car'.

Joshy to be fair although MarkDavis is, of course, being MarkDavis, the 'you can get a better car for a third of the price' thing is a bit.. OTT. You can't - if you gave me a grand to buy a car OR a 2001 318i, I'd have the 2001 318i.

Well this one of the most bizarre cars I have ever seen. :o

whaaaaattt ?

The Engine

The engine is the original one and a completely standard 1.8 Automatic

What on earth posessed him to spend 50k purely on the looks of a small BMW ?

If he wanted to turn heads at a cruise, he could have spent than on a 911 turbo. He'd have had the crowds flocking round it all dieing to know how fast it was. Stick a techart bodykit on it for extra LOLz and you've got something that turns heads, looks the part, goes the part, and is unique as well, as not many pork owners fit techart stuff.

Wow, that is hideous.

It looked good browsing on a small-screened Apple product, but on my computer I can truely see the monstrosity that is that 318ti.
