hello people... my first time posting in the motor section! I've just bought a 1996 Honda Civic 1.4i second hand.
The problem is that the windows have been tinted quite a lot. I thought I liked it but its a pain to drive with (especially as i've just passed). I want to remove all of it but don't know the best way of going about it.
The rear windscreen has a very dark tint and the back sides have the same. The front has a very light tint with the front windscreen being untouched.
I think the tint is film but unsure!

What can I do?

Cheers mate... I've heard of people using ammonia, hair dryers and all sorts of other chemicals. Is this all necessary?

dont do this by candle light though

Lol!!! :p

ConfusedTA - Its a good idea mate but I want to drive this asap as i'm paying insurance already. Driven it a couple of times but really don't like the windows!

As soon as i'm done i'll post some before/after pics (assuming all goes well :p )

Just had a look again mate and the rear windscreen has a couple of bubbles anyway! Cheers for the advice though!

Jobs done guys :) ... a lot easier than I thought it would be! Thanks for all the advice!

Before:

(sorry about the quality of these... i didn't take them! :p )

After:

The pictures don't really show that much of a change as the windows have the factory tint back. However, inside the car there is light now!!! I actually think the car looks a lot better now... thought the windows were a bit ott.

Any comments welcome!

Well I told them that it was lowered and that the tyres/alloys wern't standard! They didn't mention lights tbh... the difference in insurance was £150

Serj - Cheers mate... I didn't want to lie to them tbh :( ... first car (didn't want to get in trouble). I'm tempted to change the lexus lights the put originals back but I need to find some first! Not a big fan of them on this car.

still suprised no one else thinks the rear lights look awfull

I know mate... actively looking to replace them! Car was a bargain, couldn't say no!

Phil W - Used my fingernails in the end, painful but didn't damage anything! :)

I feel I have to keep the peace here so:

1. The main reason I took the tint of was because I couldn't see properly (not because it looked chavish)

2. The windows are factory tinted anyway (and easier to see through!)

:)
