Just bought a domain, what next?

Just bought a domain with a similar name to my actual site and I just want to point ithe new domain to the actual site.

Do I need to change the DNS details or use web forward?

Ive bought it through 123-reg.co.uk

DNS details, assuming this will be your first domain and not to accompany a second.

Actually, just spoke to my host and they said the following;

Ben: you can only url redirect other domains to your domain with us

In your hosting panel somewhere.

123-reg should have some help documents on changing DNS details for other hosts somewhere.

I'm with 123-reg. It's all explained in their control panel when you you log in.
