Hi all I just bought a second hand gtx980ti for what I think is a bargain price its this card..

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/asus_geforce_gtx_980_ti_poseidon_review,35.html

The guy I bought it off basically tried it and realised he just spent a fortune on something he will not get much time to use due to other commitments and should have spent the money elsewhere [I have done this myself] anyway I managed to get him down to £375 inc delivery and it has a 3yr warranty.
My reason for not waiting for pascal is unless I go with the flagship card at probably over £600 I will see little improvement if any over the lower mid range pascal cards with standard ddr5. Also I have a watercooled system with a non watercooled amd x290 [ran out of money :)] so I want to try and watercool the gtx 980ti and overclock it.
The only other gtx 980ti that comes with a waterblock is the evga model which costs a small fortune which is another point how much would a flagship pascal card cost with a waterblock..way out of my league cost wise.
Does this make good sense guys ? I only have a 1080 144htz monitor and only play a few games mainly bf4

The card is a couple of weeks old and I doubt I would get one much cheaper not with a pre fitted waterblock anyway. I would also have to save for a year to manage to afford the new cards with a pre fitted waterblock they will hold there premium price for a long time £600+ I bet knowing nvidia

This is one thing that swayed me from the latest and greatest still got a little doubt though :( I think I made the right choice for these reasons ...

I am stuck with 1080p for a good while, still no monitors worth it at the moment they all have caveats and cost over £600 for a decent one ! I can not really justify spending in assess of £600 on a single gpu the flagship pascal will cost that then what do I do wait for a waterblock and worry about fitting it or a model with one fitted that costs £800+ knowing NVidia they wont be cheap!!

Also I got it for a good price only weeks old with full warranty and receipt and yes buyer will help with warranty I got it off a forum member. The other option would be to get the midrange pascal with the non ddr5x memory just more of it. I still think this gtx 980ti will be close to a midrange pascal card and I would still need a waterblock on it adding £150+ to its price. This ROG gtx980ti also gets a good overclock boost under water and I should also be able to sell my old amd x290 on for around £100 I think for my needs I did ok

I hung onto my present card thinking I would wait it out for pascal but with this card coming along and letting me finish my loop and give me a good boost I decided to get it. I doubt any new card coming out would allow me to watercool for under £400 they are always £200 more with blocks fitted so I would be paying near double for a new tech mid range card with little improvement over the second hand top dog old tech card. A new NVidia flagship card watercooled would be I bet £800+ so that's deffo out for me.
I have done all this in the past and learnt my lesson the new cards tend to come with expensive bragging rights which seems to me to be a major attraction :) its not like the bad old days when dropping down to mid range killed the game most games all play well on midrange cards anyway :D

I was more concerned about buying second hand but as it seems to be on its way now hoping all's good I done good.
Should tide me over till proper hd monitors come out as they are ripping people off with the gimmick crap out at the moment give me a flat screen 32" ultraHD oled monitor please :)
And VR not good on the 980ti another daft gimmick you can keep unless they bring a ray-ban version out otherwise you will look a right ***** with that crap hanging off your face :)
Mods can close please cheers
