Just bought my first ever mac after my desktop decided to blow up! Gotta say WOW its amazing, the laptop is just beautiful so fast, so quiet. Why have i never bought a mac before???

Can you lot tell me if the mac i bought was worth the money paid?

2.4 Core2Duo
2Gb DDR3 Ram
250GB HDD
9600m Graphics
LED Backlight Screen

£1000 paid

Nice :)

But i give it a few weeks, till the WOW has worn off and you need to do some work, or the Sims on mac osx get boring :P

Only joking man :) enjoy them both.

Have you heard snowL will cost only £15 :p

Lol cheers dude, and i wont get bored and if i do then ill just sell this to my brother :)
Only using the machine as a Internet browser and to watch my DVDs on nothing else.

Got the urge to splash out on a 13" MBP myself, but am gonna give it a couple of weeks and see what the outcome of the SATA 1.5gbps problem is. Looks like it might be rectifiable in firmware, in which case I'll be splashing out as soon as it's confirmed. If not, then shame, my money will be going elsewhere (XPS13 maybe).

Cool nice dude, whats this SATA issue you speak off? and does it affect the 15.4?

The hard drives in the 13" and 15" MBP's are showing up as only 1.5Gbps connection rather then 3.0Gbps. Not sure if is a chipset issue or disk in use.

Performance testing shows that the drives in question won't fill the 1.5Gbps anyway so not really an issue withe the product as such. However if you looking to swapout the HD for an SSD then may become an issue.

It may not be an issue with mechanical drives, but if I'm buying a premium Apple product (it's got Pro in the name) and paying a premium Apple price, then I at least expect something that will still be up to standards in a few years time and in my eyes that means a SATA bus running at full speed, because I have full intention to upgrade to SSD in the not too distant future and without 3.0Gbps it's going to cripple any future upgrades.

It's personal preference at the end of the day and some people don't care, but when I consider my Acer Aspire One has a full speed SATA bus and cost under £200, then I don't see how Apple can justify limiting the speed considering the premium cost of MBP's.

Is boot camp just like a virtual machine?

I always thought that boot camp was a boot selector, but shows what I know about OSX :(

Yes and no.

It runs Windows natively (no emulation), however you will still need to reboot to switch operating systems.

Boot Camp is the tool that allows the installation of Windows on a Mac. After which, it is then solely used for selecting an OS on boot.
