Well I thought installing HDD were fairly straight forward, you just plug the power and sata cable in and your good to go...
Just installed a new secondary 2tb hard drive to replace the broken one. When I boot up the computer it is making this very weird beeping noise and if I go to bios (it won't let me) on some black screen it says auto detect drives. It recognises no hard drives apart from the DVD drive. I've tried different power and sata cables in the computer no effect. Also if I plug the power in but not the sata, the computer works fine, but the beeping noise from the new HDD carries on.

Through some trial and error I disconnected the dvd drive too and when the new hdd is connected the computer will not detect any hdd even the one with the os on that works fine.
Going into the bios without the new HDD plugged in I changed the drive settings from IDE to RAID and AHCI but still no effect when I put the new drive in. I've told the bios to boot from my main HDD
The previous HDD was 1tb and was partitioned, but that broke a year ago so I unplugged it. I've tried everything I can think of. Could I have bought a faulty HDD that just needs returning?
