Hi guys,

Bought a PS4 yesterday and decided to put the console into rest mode so power could be provided over USB in order to give the two controllers a good charge.

Came back from work today and the console refused to come out of rest mode, despite pressing the PS button on the controller (which was lit up blue, showing it was connected) and pressing the standby button on the front of the console itself.

I had to pull power to get the console to get around the issue, which is obviously not a solution I want to be using all the time.

Is this a common issue anyone has come across, or maybe a defective unit?

Cheers

It's a bug in the recent firmware, if it happens then press the power button for around 20 - 60 seconds, it resets the console.

Sony will fix this hopefully.. enjoy your ps4.

Try to close down all running apps before going to rest mode, that can help as can pressing the eject button. I expect the issue will soon be patched as others have had the same problem, I haven't as i always shut down apps before rest mode.

do some of you guys who have had the problem close programs before putting into rest mode?

I personally have not had the problem and I always close all programs before putting into rest mode or powering off.

Just to be sure though I'm powering off until Sony fix the issue.

I left my PS4 on stand by mode over night while it was downloading Evole, and the same thing happened would not wake up I had to hold the down power button for while.
