just bought a router, how will it work?

Basicly my pc is connected to a modem and thats it atm, ive just ordered a wireless router (a linksys one from ocuk) to use for general use and PS3 connection.

How will it work, will it be like this?

phoneline/whateve _____ modem ---ethernet----router---ethernet----computer
^
wireless
ps3

Most routers have a built-in modem, to which you will find to be of a better standard than your current one.

Unless of course you're on cable...

Cable Modem -> Router -> wired/wireless clients.

From your opening post you had me thinking you were on adsl as you mention phone lines
