Its downloading now, and steam predicts around 40mins til its finished...
Anyone know any good servers or want to come give me some tips in-game/get me started?
I'll probably head on to xfire around 00:20, my username is Natima.
 
I play on the gotland servers. Usually find good teamwork and also allows the use of the commander.
 
Is a mic necessary for a server like that?
I've never played BF2, and im more used to Cod4, in which mix is utter pointless unless your in a clan.
 
I wouldn't say it's necessary, all of your squad commands are passed down to your map anyway, so your always aware of whats happening.
 
Right.... just played a couple of games and realised I have no clue what im doing. Also, steam keeps bugging me to install gamespy.
Also are the expansions fully integrated into the game, as I only have 1 .exe file.
 
Beware picking random servers, atleast for the time being. It seems that the kiddies are out in force in BF2 again. TKing for vehicles, C4 explosives under your feet at the helicopter spots, permanent queues of half the players waiting around for vehicles the entire game, various forms of spam like "Infantry spotted" over and over and over.

Basically the exact reasons I stopped playing 2 years ago. I'm hoping the immature elements of the gaming community will leave soon enough though. There's just been a bit of an influx again apparently after 1.5 patch.

You just have to find a good server thats got good admin. As mentioned above the gotland servers and the super@infantry servers are good. Stuff like that will get you kicked there.
 
I can recommend you some servers I really enjoyed playing on;

-=ThC=- The Hardcore Clan [NL]
=EAF= Elite Armed Forces [UK]
Super@Vehicles
Super@Infantry

There are some servers I wouldn't recommend though XD.
 
Essex Rifles - Mostly Air Maps 85.236.101.44:16667

This servers pretty good if you want to get some flying done, not to many people so you can always get a aircraft and it can be good fun. Make sure youy play in the evening when it fills up.
 
As i said above, the TV2 servers are by far the best, they have ping caps on which will keep in game lag to a low, the gotland servers dont have ping caps from what i can remember.

TV2 have around 30 servers on all the maps. However nowadays tho you just have to look for a server thats full.
 
FOund this on my shelf last night....might have to reinstall it and give it a blast! Been years since I played it.
 
I recently got back into it after playing BF2142 for a long time. The amount of aimbot and wall hacking (seeing other players through walls) is appalling - some servers admins are strict which is good banning the mofos etc but still can be a pain.

After playing over 2000 hours on this game i cant honestly recall having more than 4 or 5 problems with people hacking :rolleyes:
Maybe i just go on good servers IDK

Same here, but I suspect most of the these 'aimbotters' are just skilled players. I myself have been acused of hacking/aimbotting/cheating quite a few times and I know I don't cheat. Plus I'm not exactly the best player in the world, hence it's not suprising when people make such blanket statements about cheating in BF2.
 
Anyone want to add me on Xfire and give me a tour of BF2?
If borderlands comes out at midnight we can switch to that too!

I wanna get some good gaming done, Tis been too long!
