Just bought my upgrade

Me personally, no, if its a replacement for whats in your sig then I think waiting for something else would have been a wiser move.

Sorry:(

Well I once made the change and the difference was night and day going from 4ghz X6 to a 4.5ghz i7, an i5 at 4.5ghz (if you clock it) will be almost as good as any processor out atm (even Intel's 6 cores) in the vast majority of applications.

I don't think you'll regret it anyway, not unless Ivy Bridge is released next week. :p

Worth it, will do 4.5Ghz with ease, ensures no bottlenecks in 99% of games. And yeah some game are very dependent on CPU performance.

Your kidding right. A 2500K overclocked will whip his old processor in everything and if he overclocked it to 4.5GHz it would be even more of a massive step up. If you also consider that the 2500K is cheap then he has made a great decision. Yes there may be better coming out but they are more expensive and when it comes to gaming there really isnt anything pushing the 2500K beyond what its capable of.

So to the OP. Yes you have made agreat decision and you will be happy with your choice

Why? Everyone goes on about ivy like its the second coming or something, rather than the same chip with a die shrink and a slightly better igpu!

the gpu inside ivy doesnt matter i use a dedicated card anyway and its likely that ivy will only be 5% better anyway also the release data of ivy is unknown too
