Just bought about 250m ISK from a friend who no longer plays eve online anymore. Iv heard people getting banned by buying isk of people.

Is buying of a friend the same as buying from a reseller?

well i don't know how eve works since i never played
but when it is the same in other MMO's then yes it is illegal because someone is making money by selling virtual things which they don't own unless it is a specified server like you have in eq2 where you sell virtual goods for money.
but i don't think your friend will get banned for it unless he does it in a big scale :)

That is correct you can get banned from buying from a reseller. However I would have thought you will be fine if your friend doesn't do it much as it will just show up as a gift of money in your wallet (no different to when I lent my mate 1 billion the other year, I didn't hear anything from CCP about it)

Hes quiting anyway, im worried incase i did, he earned it by working a lot and doesnt want to just hand it away or let it rot in his account and nobody useing it. So i bought it of him for £5 in person :D

So if he sent me 250m isk in 1 big sum, eve wont get suspicious?

Nope, wouldn't have thought so. 250m isn't really a lot in Eve

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just remembered, I've got a 90 day (or 60, can't remember) time code I bought but never used. Can I sell it on here (members market?)

i know oyu can sell them in eve itself, i dont know on other websites. Due to CCP wants to check it before it gets sold.

that will help you

You'll be fine as long as you don't post it on a popular internet forum... oh... snap...

I'd buy a 60-90 day Timecode if the price was right...

Wont be a prob, I've been given a couple of bil off a mate before and didn't get any hassel. 250m is nothing.

They don't ban you anyway, they just take the cash out of your account putting you in the red normally and thus making you unable to do anything. You can't sell because you have negative cash, you can't do anything unless someone bails you out.

*Looks at his account which is 2 billion in the red*

Sigh, I was silly!

omg?

so how do you get it back out of the red?

Mission rewards/bounties, lots of them. A mate gifted me quite a decent sum when I started out to get skill books, etc. and never had a problem.

Yeah you can grind your way out with missioning etc, but it will take a hell of a long time to do it with 2 billion. I didn't know anybody willing to lend me a billion or so, the irony is I have about 1 billion worth of ships sitting around that I can't sell so I gave up.

I must have over 100b isk now, I wish OCuk would take isk, as I want a new PC :p

I regularly move 1-2b around accounts, although I do know people that got banned moving 10b+
