Just bought Windows 8 - wrong decision?

Ahhh, happy days of Autoexec.bat, config.sys, Himem.sys and emm386.exe trying to get 610k mem free. Having to configure sound cards with jumpers before installing them to set resources (IRQ7, Port220h anyone?)
Yes it was fun back in those days,nowadays you just get people moaning about no Aero or Start button lol...they don't know what it was like back in those days(they have it so damn easy now lol..)

220/5/1 Soundblaster and compatibles defaults I believe.
LH = load high to give a few more kb free - useful if you needed to load mscdex (or CD drivers).
Memmaker I believe was another one trying to con the system into thinking you had a few more KB than you actually had.
Good days - DOS was the first real thing I messed with and the stuff you learn in that are still fundemental to computers today.
