So I finally built myself a new PC, and was hoping that you guys could give me some advice as to what to install now that it's up and running.

It's a 4770K with Asus Z87-Pro motherboard. The only thing I have done is install Windows 8.1 without a internet connection. The CD that came with the motherboard isn't much use as I haven't even bothered to put a optical drive in yet.

Checking the asus page for the Z87 Pro has left me totally confused, there must be at least 10+ programs/updates going on. Does anyone know the best way to tackle this.

I plan on hooking up to my network tomorrow but I don't know where to start in terms of what to install. I know Asus offers a slew of programs to play with but I don't really want to bulk up my new pc with junk that I don't need.

OK i'm back again, I now have the system up and running in the case and everything seems to be looking good. I don't know what counts as good or standard temps but the 17-4770k is at 23.c and the case temp is 25.c

I do however have a problem, in the device manager the 'High Definition Audio Device' is shown as not working. I have a realtek high definition audio device listed below that works fine.

I have scanned the Asus site for drivers and got them all, I have tried deleting the device and reinstalling it but the same error occurs. It's not actually causing any issues for me, but it's rather irritating.

Any suggestions?

Fixed my issue by downloading the intel onboard graphics driver, apparently it includes a audio high def driver also. The asus one on their site didn't.
