its working now..i kinda didnt put the 12V lead into the mobo so of course it wouldnt boot up..now just got to work out why my WD hdd isnt showing up in my computer

sounds like it's your cpu.

got the 8 pin plugged in?

if yes, then it seems like it's dead

edit: sorry had a few windows open and didn't reply right away

So the fans work but there's nothing on the display. Does the noise of the fans change or is it always the same pitch? If it changes then that might mean that it's booting up but it's just not displaying it to you. If it's the same then, well, it's probably not that.

can you check if the hdd is working on another pc?
check cables, and check if its detected in bios

Is it a brand new drive? If so, you might have to go into disk management and initialise it, then set up the partition and format it.

Yea it is a brand new hdd,its probably only ever gonna be used for storage, is disk management in the bios?. Sorry its my 1st build and apart from these 2 things everything as gone well, at least its working now, now just gotta re overclock it because i cleared the cmos/bios.

right click my computer, manage, disc management and see if the HDD is there. If it is right click it and click simple volume. Second HDD wont show up unless you set it up in windows.

If its your only HDD then make sure you check your power connector and SATA connection. If that still doesn't work I would say your HDD might be faulty.
