I built my first PC last night. I switched it on and it appeared to be fine, but then the power cut out and after a second or two it came back on again ... I've noticed the heatsink fan isn't working. When I switch it on it makes maybe one turn and then stops. The PSU is 430w ... intel dual core 1.86, 2 gig ram, I've been assured all the parts are compatible. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

This is probably the source of your problems. Many systems won't boot without the cpu fan working as the cpu's get very hot very quickly without them.

If you give a full list of the parts you have installed will maybe help give some answers.
You say the power went off and back on again and now the cpu fan doesn't spin. Do you or did you have a screen output? The more detailed your description of what happens the easier it is to figure out your problem.
