Okay, so i've had a good read of the various guides on the forum and have made a system!..at least on paper. I'n thinking of ordering any parts on the weekend and was hoping some of you guys could take a look through my specs and tell me if there's any glaring problems with the system.

So here goes,

Abit AW9D Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

OCZ GameXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply

ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4

Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 NCQ 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache

Now that's all I have at the moment, I think i'll be going for vista premium and a 19" monitor of some kind (8ms response etc...) but was wondering if I should go for widescreen or not.. Also should I go for some 1066mhz ram? This would match my cpu but I wasn't sure if that mattered.

So, any ideas? I would be gratefull for any help you can give me.

Thanks!!

I would agree with the alternative HD, i have lost faith in Hitachi, formally IBM hard drives, as i had 2 and they both failed within 6 months of having them.

Using a Seagate Barracuda 120GB SATA I, and is running fine and has been for over 3 1/2 years.

Gonna be looking to go SATA II in the future with a RAID 0 setup, so would definitely consider Seagate again.

Does look a betterer card, and I suppose only andother 60 squids (i've been saying that a lot while making this list). You've sold it, it shall be added!! Pending further research.

Thankyou my good man.

The RAM rate is double, but the CPU FSB is quadrupled, so you only need 533MHz RAM to run at stock. I'd go for PC6400 (800MHz) as the you'll have plenty of head room for overclocking :D .

Make sure you go for the 8800 GTS (640 or 320) as is much more future-proofed than the ATi cards at that price range (8800s have DX10).

Only glaring problem i see is the gfx card, those are totally worthless those cards being old gen, get an 8800 GTS as said above, either the 640mb or the 320mb, much faster than that old card, and are next gen.

Welcome to the forums btw. :)
