Just completed "Homeworld" (again)

Love the HW games, many fond memoories of lan games, quiet often, once the big battle started, we just walked away and let the PCs get on with it.

I loved the fact in HW the fighters and bombers had fuel and you had to take support ships along with you, so no more of this lone squardon lark, you had to think about how to move your fleet

I got into this about 5 years ago, read the extensive back story, was prepared for a very deep gaming experience. 1st few missions were good, but I was getting slowly over-whelmed. I generally shy away from RTSs, reckon I should give this another go? Also is this available on steam?

Unlike most RTS games, missions are a continuation from the last. So if you had 20 ships left over from the last mission, you got the same 20 to start the next.

This could be a blessing, as it requires you to really look after vessels, and it rewards good tactics. Downside is, you might have to go back a mission or two and improve your performance if you find a later mission overwhelming.

Just seeing its name mentioned again has got me reaching for the install discs. It's been a year or so since I last played through it. Fantastic game!

Played through this myself only a couple of months ago. Funny how I remembered preferring Cataclysm, but years later, the original seems by far the superior version.

Once I learnt a few tricks on dealing with certain aspects (nick everything with salvage corvettes, don't send frigates after the needle ships in the Kadesh levels, use a grav-well generator on the Dawg and laugh), it made the seemingly impossible parts a lot easier to deal with, and the game became so much more fun. Fantastic, just wish I could get the sequel to work too.

Great game... Am installing it now

Any tips for the Garden of Kadesh missions? I remember finding these particularly difficult to not lose a load of frigates doing them

They def need to make another. HW1 is still one of my favorite games of all time. The graphics don't look too bad considering how old it is and the missions had loads of variety - not an easy thing in empty space.

It would be sweet if they made some other games based on the franchise like a space flight sim or an FPS based on the marine frigates.

Awesome game. The music, art direction and story are beautiful. Also, hands down the best multi-player experience I've ever had in any game.
