SPOILERS ITT!

All I can say is wow, what an amazing game that was. Great story, the impact your choices make really make you think! :D I must say I'm so glad I kept going through the relatively slow first couple of chapters. I was an Igni spamming monster by the end! 62 hours gaming in total for me.

I think the only part I didn't really like was the Swamp Cemetery tbh. Give it a few months and I'll play it through again.

For anyone who hasn't played the The Witcher Enhanced Edition - do it! And thanks a million to those who recommended it some time back when I was looking for something new to play. :)

Now I need to upgrade my PC so i can play TW2 and Skyrim. *cries*

If your PC can play the Witcher (I'm assuming your referring to number 2) then I'm pretty sure you'll be ok for Skyrim? And yeah its an awesome game :D

I loved it too, best ending twist EVER!!.

I didn't like it at first though, i had to let it stew for a bit. The first few hours are quite dull tbh.

I am not that sure that i was playing the Enhanced Edition actually because i hear that there are new character models but the version i played (steam directors cut) only had 5-6 models in the whole game.

I would dearly love to play it again but there are too many games to play atm.

You can complete The Witcher in that little time :( Wow... TES is clearly better! xD

/endtroll/

On a more serious note though congratulations, now get upgrading for Witcher 2 and Skyrim :)

Currently playing The Witcher and could use some tips/encouragement:

Just completed Chapter 1, graphically it is good and I don't mind the clicky combat but I wasn't overly impressed since:

-I had a few side quests it didn't give me the opportunity to complete, e.g. had to meet this guy at the Inn but I must have triggered some other event that meant it was full of thugs, the dot is was the map but the bloke never showed up :/
-Beast fight seemed really hard, highly annoying as the gave forces you to click through a bunch of conversations/cutscene EVERY SINGLE TIME you reload the save
-Prologue in the castle actually seemed more fun than the first proper chapter?!
-I am struggling with inventory management, there don't seem to be enough vendors about and the barkeep got killed (so I couldn't even recover the gear I'd left at the Inn)
-Annoying that loot markers don't show as soon as you kill an enemy, you have to kinda wait for the body to settle
-I find the whole alchemy thing a bit confusing

Tip: Take all the contracts from the noticeboards at the start of each chapter. You'll end up killing lots of stuff anyway and the extra XP for completing them will be nice.

I got a bit annoyed with the way you could fail to complete quests by advancing the main story too quickly but meh.

The first chapter was a bit slow and boring, but it does get MUCH better so stick at it :)

I found it a real grind early on in the game but trust me it will click. It can get very confusing at times mainly i found due to the awful translation in the version i played, i found it gets better in chapter 2 and then really excels in 3 and 4.
It took me about 3 months to get to chapter 3 but then after that i brezed through the rest in bout 3-4 days as i was just so engrossed, In the end i finished it in 54 hours according to Steam, doing pretty much everything.

Inventory management just isn't very good really tbh and alchemy i can't really remember much of, it has been a while since i played it. From what i remember of the inventroy you have to stack items yourself which can get a bit annoying though, is that right?

I had to look at a guide on the internet to find out when quests would become unplayable.

Also, if you are playing through atm check out this thread for some great texture mods which get the game looking amazing - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18274813&highlight=witcher+mods

Biggest tip i could give would be to read every book and then sell it

Chapter 1 does feel like a slog but after the first 1/3 of chapter 2 to really gets into gear and never rreally lets you go till the end.

both great games, congrats on completing the first!
I ended up loving chapter 2 by the end of it, the stones, statues, tower really great moments in the witcher 1.

Another tip for TW1 is to do the quest in chapter 4 to get Raven's Armour, it is practically the only thing that carries over to TW2 and is one of the best armours in that game as well, at least until you can craft something better vey late in the game.

Awesome game, much much better than the 2nd one, in my opinion. Have completed The Witcher four times. Got to act 3 in The Witcher 2 and gave up. 'nuff said.

Got bored of rolling about all over the place and only being able to block twice.

I felt exactly the same, however there was a mod on day one which gave you unlimited blocking and now the latest patch version 2.0 had rejigged the combat so that among other things, block is now unlimited i believe.

I was also disappointed with the game but didn't think it was that bad

Oh really? I might have to patch it and see what it's like.

I don't think it was a bad game no. Just no way near as good as it's predecessor.

i got the game when it first came out :) i honestly spent like 4 hours deciding whether to side with the Scoi'a'Tel or the Order of the flaming rose in chapter 2. i decided to be neutral :D

The beast was one of the hardest to beat for me. It just involved at lot of running around in circles and trying it over and over. After that you get stronger and the game is a lot easier.
