Hi, just connected the above router. Just wanting to know:

1) How do you disable wireless for the time being I want to stay wired?

2) Giving I only want to be connected via the wired option do I need to set-up any additional security or are all the security options within the router purely for wireless purposes. I current have Zonealarm Pro, Nod32, Spyware Blaster, A2 and Adaware.

3) I presume I can now uninstall the software that was installed with the speedtouch modem, i.e Dr Speedtouch and/or previous dial up settings.

4) This may sound stupid but how do I know I am actually connected with Tesco BB and not some other random connection. When I used to dial in I could see my tesco log in and the number it was dialling (0) so I knew, now I just double click on Firefox or IE and i'm online. I presume all settings would have been detected during set-up?

Thanks guys I'm new to this router malarky.

1) in the router configuration you can normally disable the wireless transmission, not familiar with this model, but most routers I've seen let you do this

2) Your router will probably have a hardware firewall built in, but its always a good idea to run a software one, even if its windows firewall. Obviously you'll still need anti virus.

3)yes

4) When you set up the router you had to put in your username and password, you can only have one BB tied to one line so its only going to be that connection. If you're using vista you can tell when you are connected to the internet by the fact there is a little globe by 2 computers in the task tray.

If you're not in Vista, you can tell your connected by when you open your browser the internet appears.
