OK, so this case is as old as the hills now, but is considered a classic..
I was wondering are there any people out there who still have one, or have bought one and how do you compare it against newer more modern cases??

Its the best case i have owned but it was about twice as expensive than any other case i have had :)

Best case I have ever owned.

***MFT!

There as problems with the case these days such as no ability to route cables behind the motherboard tray etc but nothing that cant be fixed with a drill and / or dremel :)

edit: why does the acronym for 'quoted for the' get starred out?

We think the TJ07 still compares favorably against newer cases from an enthusiasts perspective. It was the first computer case to utilize aluminium unibody frame, this design enabled a much stronger structure than any other aluminium cases out at the time (probably still the strongest now). It eliminated the need for additional braces that would otherwise obstruct the internal layout, which incidentally made TJ07 great for watercooling and modding.

It's been six years since the launch of TJ07 and it is still one of the few computer cases made with unibody frame (FT01, FT02, and TJ11 being the others).

^ this, this, a thousand times this

layout, size, modding potential

the case has it all. not to mention the fact that with a few simple mods you can achieve excellent cable management.

I have always loved the tough build quality on silverstone chassis.

anyone who tells you that a lian li is better, has never seen a good silverstone.

there is not a single modern case that has this flexibility and easy modding potential.

I will be very very sad to see mine go.

I think that is me sold then
I was looking for a midi tower that I could watercool in, but unless I go for the 650D, they are all pretty meh to be honest, or ugly as hell.
Looking at the price, there is only a 50 quid difference between the 650D or the TJ07, so it makes sense, and I love silverstone cases, this will be my third one now..
Will have a look on the cable management mods as that is crucial..

cable management mods to the later revision are not as crucial as the mb tray has a big hole in it to put your cables through.

but cutting a section out of your midplate at the back is important. doesn't take a lot of effort

Or like this: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=19290654&postcount=29

Not sure which is the best way to do it tbh, personal preference I guess. I just liked the idea of the upright section holding the cables in place for the side to go on. Though I suspect your way it easier to do Biffa.

One huge plus point in my opinion, which no one has mentioned, is that the case is screwed together making it so easy to modify the case. The only part that is riveted is the motherboard tray to the the back plate. If you get one with the gaping hole in the motherboard tray too, Silverstone will sell you a solid replacement too :)

Yes Greboth, yours is more elegant, but more work in the end, I also had the additional hassle of only realising it once I had put most of it back together. [doh] Hence the cardboard dust/grit/spark protector I used :p

But functionally I expect they are similar in use. :)

Interesting as I have never really had to research cases in this way before. My previous two silverstone cases were for particular purpose builds, where as this is more general.
I want a good sized case with excellent cable management options that will last me years and allow me to water cool, though initially until I have bought new next gen nvidia gpu's I will be going on air cooling..
I like/love the TJ07, but no usb3 and a nagging feeling about buying into old tech..
The Coolermaster Cosmos S2 might be OK
the Corsair 800d is a classic..
Of course, non of this would be an issue if the TJ11 was £250, but £450 is just too much for a case, I mean that is the cost of my cpu!!
I think Id be better waiting until after CES in case anything gets announced then. The advantage of that is that it will give me time to evaluate the temps I will get on air as I have concerns over watercooling x79 as I saw a post somewhere saying that the chipset was getting really hot overclocked at anything over 4.5/4.6, and that an air cooler was needed that also cooled the surrounding area.
It's too early for custom x79 mobo cooling, but Im hoping something will be announced soon..

Wow, lots of love in here for the TJ07. I bought mine back in 2008 (i think) and had the intentions of throwing in some watercooling. However, I lost my job and went into education so those plans were quickly put on hold. At the time I loved the case, its size, look and the fact that it had a window. 3 years later and I hate it. It takes up a lot of room, it’s noisy and really heavy. I’ve also grown out of the whole modding thing. The window on the side also annoys me, I’ve just grown out of/lost interest in looking at PC components and watercooling. Quite often the side panel rattles and takes your attention from whatever you’re doing in order to stop it. On the weight side of things, well I regularly go to my mates for LANs so humffing this thing around got old fast.

Of course I can see the benefits of this case for the watercooling crowd who won’t be moving their cases at any point. But for my needs now it has well and truly run its course. My only problem is that I’m stuck with it. It’s too big and heavy to ship cheaply and I don’t have the scratch to buy a replacement.

Interesting to hear an alternate viewpoint
Im lucky as mine will never move, and the noisy bit would bother me, but Im hoping a fan upgrade or watercooling will sort that out..

If you have the money to reach the cases potential as a watercooling setup its unbelievable. As an air cooled case (which mine is until christmas) it doesn't perform that well i would say.

i bought my tj07 this year and went from a hafx.mines watercooled and i love it.old tech? well to me it feels solid and looks the nuts. heavy? no heavier than my hafx was.its ali not steel.the only case i would change it for now is the tj11 but i'll have to rob a bank first
