Just curious, what will happen to 4090 prices next year?

I have a 4080, but I do a lot of iracing in the quest3 and every bit of GPU helps, as I'm nowhere near maxed out. I think I'm 1.4x/72 hz

After spending nearly 2k canadian on this GPU 2 years ago - I don't think I can do that again. Spend thousands on a little GPU die.

Anyone remember what happened with the 3090/3090TI when the 4090/4080 came out?

3090/ti fell hard, but it was uniquely a fairly bad proposition. I think the 4080 will hold more value. That said if you do want to upgrade now is the time to sell.

If the value of a secondhand 4090 drops big time so will the secondhand value of your 4080

So you may not be saving a huge amount if the value of a 4090 does drop

The 5090 will launch at £1700, I will manage to purchase one day one. They will then sell out for months and demand for the 4090 will rise and I will be able to sell mine for £1600, thus making my 5090 upgrade cost £100.

These are my predictions, and you're not allowed to tell me I'm wrong because it's Christmas and the season of holiday cheer.

What 4090’s?

The ones left have gone up in price and there is pretty much none left.

Board partners have got better at ensuring they have no old stocks left typically now so there won’t be any deals on 4090, certainly not at OcUK as I’ve cleared all our stock through and seems similar story at most places they are all sold out.

Thank goodness the board partners are focused on us getting the best 2nd hand value for our 4090's by ensuring there is no more stock

And sounds like there going be hardly any stock at all of the new 5080/5090 gpu's :cry::cry:

But Retailers may of made sure all the 4090 stock was cleared knowing the 5080/5090 prices are very good....
Mmmmmmmmmm Very good prices and nvidia really don't go together but just maybe they could surprise us for once

3090/Ti was a different proposition for gaming, it was so dreadful in terms of value it made the 4090 'look good' of course it will drop in value by how much who can say? It basically comes down to how many 4090 owners want the 5090 and sell their GPU on. To answer that you need price/performance/availability data which is atm points a pretty bleak picture imho they are having to build a bigger die and there is no commercial incentive for Nvidia to bring their margins down.

Even if the 5080 is decent you aren't going to get 4090 owners en-mass going down that route, they will want a high performing 5090 with some tolerance for price inflation... and I don't think that is on offer this coming gen we shall see. Basically I think a lot more 4090 owners will stick with what they have for the time being that is my prediction.

Is the 4090 the only card in which you find yourselves in a situation like this? Considering the 5080 is rumoured to be up for sale first, how is the 4080 super stock looking?
