Hey guys,
Wondering if you could shine some light on to some RAM pricings I came across shop.
It sold a 3x2GB kit @ 1600MHz for ~£250
and a 2x2GB kit @1600MHz (exactly the same RAM but in dual channel) for £110

What I was wondering was is it possible to buy two 2x2GB kits and then stick three of the sticks together to create a 3x2GB kit? Would there be any performance difference between the sold 3x2GB kit and the mixed 3x2GB kit?
(remembering that the actual RAM modules are exacly the same)
Cheers

I see what your doing! Good thinking
and keep the spare 2gig for when you get the 4 gig out of 6gig usable message that keeps popping it head up

if it's the same part number I see no reason why not

Ah ok, thanks for that.
The RAM isn't exactly special, I've been making specs for a few mates of mine of late. One of them requested that I used Muskin RAM if possible. Not really sure why!
Anyway, after tracking some down I found the kits set out above and was curious if I could buy the dual channel kit and shove them together to cut costs.
Having said that, I'll probably recommend the Patriot/Corsair.
