Ok, its all up and running. However it wasnt without its hiccups!
This is mainly a warning to anyone with an Akasa Eclipse case and an Asus P5Ne-Sli. I removed motherboard tray from case, removed motherboard and I Mounted the HSF...
Smooth installation it seemed!...
Everything was on, looking spot on.
So i was ready to put it back into the case.
I slid the motherboard tray back in, then bam... it gets stuck on the Noctua, its height made it about 1mm too big to fit inside the back of the case.
So i had to remove the Noctua from its mounts (which i hate doing once i have it in place, i get paranoid about the paste etc). Then i had to slide in the motherboard tray, then remount the HSF once it was all back in.
Then i hit another problem, in order to screw the Heatsink back onto its brackets, you need to remove the fan. Which left a nightmare problem of putting the fan back on. As the clip is at this point, at the end closes to the motherboard, and in a 2cm gap. So with perseverance (and a kebab skewer) I managed to get the bottom retaining clip onto the fan.
By this time im sweating my balls off, and what seemed easy. Became a right pain in the ass!
Anyway... Temps have knocked a few degrees off.
I dont get excited about temps, as it does sod all for performance, but all in all...
A good Heatsink. I recommend it. Very easy to mount, unless you have my trouble of course.
