Lookin good! I flashed my pair from 6950 to 6970 & it worked well but I have now just unlocked the shaders to the full 1536 using the modded 6950 bios & this keeps your stock volts & other stock 6950 settings :)

I dont recommend using the 6970 bios people may say its safe and works fine but you could be heading into trouble down the line, your safe bet is to use a modded 6950 bios that only unlocks the shaders and keeps the 6950 stock clocks then just overclock from there. allthough i cant say this method is 100% safe its sure a lot safer than simply flashing to a 6970 bios.

thats what i have done ive got the 1536 shaders so im using the bios, my clock is 900mhz, and my mem clock is 1390 do you think thats acceptable?

If you haven't changed the voltage (power control isn't voltage) then you are at stock volts.

900/1390 is very impressive on stock volts, are you 100% sure its stable? Have you tried something like Heaven? (Ignore Furmark).

As already stated though, the 6970 bios is a bad idea. Stick to modifying your own 6950 bios.

what would be a safe bet?i know i havnt done anything with voltage controls as they dont even show on the catalyst software I have?

Also for some reason i cant play bioshock 1 just keeps cutting off which is odd

just checked with gpu-z, it says vddc 1.100v, it says bios version 013.008.000.009.039303?

i have tried heaven and it averages roughly 52fps does that sound about normal?

I'd say your overclock may not be stable if games are failing. The figures do sound high.

Either up the voltage to stock 6970 voltage or a little over (1.175V) or down your clocks.

How did you modify your card? It doesn't sound like you're sure which method you used (ie. whether you used 6970 or unlocked 6950 bios)

im not 100%sure, i used the link here from the 6950 to 6970 thread and copied the bios using the software included. every other game runs fine, crysis. black ops, modern warfare 2, crysis warhead, had no issues at all, ive never played bioshock so i downloaded the demo but just wont load up, that could just be driver related though ive had no issues with any other game at all

yeah i did so is it just a case of reflashing back to my original one then?or there is a switch on the card to move it back to the one you cant flash?

knightswho- i right clicked the desktop shortcut and typed it but no luck:(

yeah just do what you did to flash the 6970 bios but flash your original ones back, then turn off your computer and unplug it for a minute or so then you should be good to go.

gratz , but did it really deserve a new thread considering theres a monster sticky at the top of the page full of ppl that have done the same thing weeks ago ? ;)
