JUST GFX UPDATE OK

Hi love this forum long time lurker,

Wanted to refresh my P.C a bit as a few decent games about ,the below spec runs fallout 4 and BF 4 on mid but like to turn on all bells and whistles ,was thinking of a ASUS GTX 970,
would that make a significant difference for 300 quid ,any advice welcomed

current sys :
intel i5 2500k overclocked to 4.3 ,
Mobo P8Z77-V PRO
8 gig G-Skills Ripjaws 1600 mhz CL9
Asus GTX 560 ti TOP edition
Corsair 750 TS psu
Obsidian 650D case

If you're gaming at 1080p, a 970 would be a good choice.

A GTX 970 or R9 390 will do you fine for 1080p.

thanks ill have a read around ,seen things about 3.5 ram available only on the 970 but 8 gigs on the 390 ,only ever had nvidia

The 3.5GB issuse was blown out of all proportion. The card does have 4GB but .5 GB of it is accessed differently to the other 3.5GB.

I ran 2 G1 970's for a while & found them great with no issuses with memory etc.

thanks yes just read the same bit of a mess up by nvidia all the same ,, which would suit my system better the GTX 970 or the R9 390 ?

I play BF4 on max settings with my GTX970 no problem at 1080. Either will suit your system but nvidia tends to have better driver support

More ram and faster than a 970 also cod advanced warfare max settings uses more than 8gbs so think about in terms with how games are going.

970 is as good as card as it ever was @1080p. Grab a well priced one and be happy.
