Hi,

Just got one of these stupid "We have noticed a virus on your computer" calls, jerked him around for about 10 minutes, told him that I was running LINUX etc but he still persisted.

When I finally got bored and told him that he was probably better off trying to con somebody else rather than somebody like me he started getting pretty abusive!

Is there anywhere to report these calls to, I don't know how they got our number as we're X-directory!

My nan got one of these calls recently and told them where to go. Quite impressed and glad I don't have to fix anything!

Had one of these a few years back before they started to get more common, did mess them around a bit.
Not gotten one since, however it was my mum who picked up, she was very worried about the whole thing.
If i'd not been around i bet many of my family members would blindly follow instructions, as infact would many of my users at work.

Not had any since but i hope there is somewhere to report them, if i got one again i'd certainly be looking to.

I had one a few weeks ago. I advised that Microsoft had been banned in my country since the 1st of January 2010. He asked which country to which I replied Timbuktu.

When he said he didn't believe me I said it was about as realistic as him knowing I had a virus, at which point he called me a 'mother lover'

Did make me laugh :D

We had one this morning too. Mum answered the call. Thankfully she knows all about them and we've had several in the past. First the caller called mum by dads name, then they asked to confirm our address but the address they read out was where we used to live until 7 years ago. After that mum just hung up.

I got the now famous call here in Belgium

Wonder what their success rate is here since his first question was "do you speak english sir" :p

I really want one of these. My plan is to say " hang on a second while i get the owner of the computer" and then proceed to do my best impression of the indian telesales guy from Fonejacker for the rest of the call ( i do a pretty mean impression of him don't you know)

The times it took my mum to finally learn this is BS. 3 times i had to go round and defuse her sodding laptop to see if she actually manged to install teamviewer or whatever crap they use.

Her own ineptness with anything other than Farmville is literally her only protection against phising and these scammers.

The ***** tried it on with my Grandfather who is 84, Got his first Laptop last year and he was on the phone for a good 40 minutes before they asked for money, He told them to do one.

They said they was from Virgin Media and a Virus was on his PC, Wish id been there :(
