Just got a K800i... having problems getting it synchronsed.

Well, it was time for a free upgrade today and considering i'd heard about so many problems with the N73 I decided to go with the Sony K800i.

I downloaded the latest version of Sony PC Suite and followed the instructions but the problem is the phone is only seen on file transfer mode... when you put it on phone mode it doesn't register therefore I can't synchronse... arrghh!

Anyone have an advice to get me up and running?

I had this. Check in device manager what com port if is using when in phone mode, then in the SE software, somewhere in connection options, make sure that com port is enabled. That should sort it.

Hmm I actually can't enable them... the options seem greyed out. Any idea why?

Getting very frustrated with this now... if I can't sort it by the end of today i'm returning the bloody thing. I can't even get it to synch with outlook using MyPhoneExplorer.

Ok it's now synched ysing MyPhoneExplorer... checked the advanced options and realised I had to set it manually to update from Outlook 2003 lol.

But the Sony software STILL doesn't work witht he phone set to "Phone" mode... so I guess i'll have to use a mix of both... MPE for contacts and SE for file transfers.

I hope I made the right choice getting this phone instead of an N73... had to get an 18-month contract too to get the tariff I wanted. Do you think I could ghave got a better deal f i'd have phoned orange instead and tried to get the same deal on a 12-month contract as opposed to the 18?

This is how it is set on my w850i (should be the same on a K800i though). The COM port may be a different number

Hi Starscream,

The point is that it doesn't give me the option ot change any of it in the phone montor settings like yours does... it just doesn't detect anything and all the buttons are greyed out.

Anyways no matter... MyPhoneBrowser is about 100x better, really amazing.
