Hello, just got myself a new mac book air and have never used a mac before :eek::eek:

I've got the general idea on using it for browsing extra and I will be setting up a NAS system at home for my back ups from this air and my pc and will also use the NAS as my iTunes hub.(when my HDD get here and i have the time)

I've got a question (probably more to come) is there anyway I can transfer my firefox bookmarks from my pc to this air?

I have firefox and safari on the pc, i ran the migration assist between the pc and air but there was no option to transfer firefox info, the only browser info I had an option to transfer was safari. Is there a way to transfer my bookmarks from firefox to safari on the pc then from it to the air? would that be a solution?

thanks for looking...:)

Haven't used Firefox myself but is there any option to export the bookmarks in there? I know in IE you can go File -> Import and Export to save all your bookmarks, would imagine Firefox offers something similar.

Can then put on USB stick and copy across on the Air

I've never used Firefox sync before, but if you don't fancy creating an account you can do it how I did.

Copy the profile for Firefox on your Windows machine:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing up your information?

And paste it into the directory where it's stored on your Mac.

Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Application Support/Firefox

or something like that if I remember rightly. Piece of cake.

Thank you so much thats it sorted now used an SD card to move it across.

Thanks for all the replies sorry it was for something stupid but I have never needed to move my bookmarks before:roll eyes:

Has anyone got any tips for me on using a mac or any programs/apps I should get?

thanks again!

Congrats on your mac. You won;t regret it. Got mine in July and love it!

Get xMarks and Lastpass to do cloud syncing of your bookmarks and login details. Both very good and extremely useful.

Use iCloud calendars

Use iTunes Match, very very good.

Get Alfred, free from App store. Can't use a mac without it

Caffeine can come in useful at times too.

I also find putting the dock on the left side of the screen is very nice as well.

Use spaces, mission control and Magic Mouse/Trackpad gestures. Make using a mac very very pleasant indeed.

Trillian is free and great for multi client IM'ing duties.

Reeder is amazing for syncing seamlessly with Google Reader

I normally suggest using Chrome for your browser but you stated you use Firefox so no more said.

Kind regards,
Neil
