Only had a couple of hours playing on it, PES08, CM Dirt, RR7 (dont like) and MotoStorm.

Also played a DVD on it. Playback and controls are good.

Anyway, Im very pleased with it in general.

Got a couple of questions though...

Any difference in having the console vertical or horizontal?

Can I just connet to the PS network via my wireless internet connection without having anything extra like the Xbox Live setup?

How long does the controller take to charge? Does it charge whilst playing a game, with it plugged in?

Thanks

1. if the console is vertical (standing on the left side) then apparently wireless signal is more stable/better. Coz the wireless radio transmitting whatsit thingy is on the top right of the ps3

2. dont need anything extra to connect to psn. Its connected to my current adsl bb wireless.

3. Controller charge? hrmm dunno? ive got 2 controllers and i usually keep the one not in use plugged into the usb. But yeah it does charge whilst playing a game if you keep it plugged in.

Ohh smt else.... if your watching a DVD do this... press TRIANGLE to bring up the menu and goto AV options (audio-video) i'm sure theres an option in there to sortoff upscale the DVD quality. (from none, normal, full i think) it makes a heckavu difference :D

1. Vertical and Horizontal are the same.
2. PSN is free, so it's straight to the wireless router and away you go playing games or downloading content (though you'll want to get foreign accounts as Sony seem to have forgotten about us :p).
3. Controllers take around 5 hours at a guess. I use 2 controllers, so one goes on charge and the other gets used.

Dont think there is any difference in it being stood vertically or horizontal tbh. The badge still rotates as well lol.
It has built in wifi so you can connect to your router by configuring it in network settings located under settings. You can connect to the PSN straight away as its free! Controller takes around 3-4 hours to charge, you can charge it whilst playing but you will have to connect it to the usb cable, which is too short imo, its only about a metre long. (You can also use it as a PSP data cable if you have one!)

edit: lol beaten by about 5 people.

Cheers guys. Im using the controller whilst plugged in atm with only having one. Will be getting a new one tomorrow me thinks.

Ive try out the PSN now.

perhaps because using the analogue stick with F1:CE is evil... utterly deadly dead zones ( so one tiny TINY.. minute mistake and BAM you're onto the gravel track skidding out of control. It is so easy to spin off. Goes from 0 - 100 in 0.5 mm :(
Barely any middle ground at all. Maybe its one of the games that thrives on use of a steering wheel.

With your sig. I'm quite stunned you didn't get F1 Championship edition and chose RR instead!

Got RR7 on the cheap and now wished I did'nt get it at all :p Not my cup of tea at all.

F1: CE is a must when I get my controller tomorrow I think.

Hope youre enjoying your PS3, anyway if your not in a hurry ie can wait a week then i would order a dual shock 3 controller, they can be had for about £35 from Asia.

correct, its a lot better with a steering wheel, i got one for this game and it made it a lot better, and a lot harder. unfortunatly it didnt work too well on a sofa and laminate flooring so i didnt use it as much as id like :(.

Welcome to the PS3 Owners Club (Your baseball cap and pin-badge are over on the side)

Deffinately create at least a USA account to go alongside your UK account on PSN as we usually get poor updates compared with the USA.

And if your into your movies get a remote for it.

Thanks guys.

Remote is on the list too along with another controller.

Just downloaded an update for the console. Installing now. Not sure what it improves, but I guess its worth a go.
