Hi guys
I bought a VPS from heartinternet last week and used the WHM control panel they provided to add a new "account" for a domain name I have hosted with register1.net
I switched the nameservers on my register1 domain to what I assume are nameservers for my VPS (I pulled the details from within the control panal).
A week later, the domain still wasn't working, however, accessing the site through it's IP address worked fine.
I contacted heartinternet today and they said I would need to add my domain as a domain reference through the heart internet control panel. I went to the URL they provided me with and added my domain, and immediately the domain started working...
So all is fine at the moment, but I really want to know why I had to add this domain reference in the first place. How would I access this list of domain references through the terminal/ssh? I'm assuming most people would not need to use the provider's control panel to set this up?
I had assumed after adding the domain as a new account within WHM (the control panel I was provided with) and changing nameservers all would just work.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks
