Got an x2, overclocks to 2600 happily but having a few problems, even at stock which suggest to me its driver errors (stock everything).

Lost coast crashes and freezes the system, but windows is still working but I cant access it.

Call of juarez demo - when I play it under the vicar guy, it seems to run fine then suddenly the screen goes brown, game pauses then the game comes back again.

I've tested the pc out overclocked/stock, same results, only those 2 games are giving me grief, both use HDR thought that maybe a problem but CSS is fine.

Specs:
X2 3800 @ 2600 (prime stable for as long as I could be bothered, a few hours).
OCZ 1gig ram @ 217fsb 2,2,3,5 (memtest overnight stable)
X1800xt 256mb
MSI K8N Neo4 Plat
Seasonic 500w

It's obviously a driver error, I installed all the known X2 things (amd/ms hotfix), maybe a format/new install of windows is needed? I didnt follow the steps exactly by changing registry and what not.

When you say the pc is at stock does that include your latencies?

The new cpu's mem controller might not be as good as your old one

I didnt bother with the patches either, but I tried running all my games and they ran crazy, really fast infact/normal so i had to install the patches.

Yeah I get the same problems with stock everything even ram timings etc.

I cant see how drivers would make it crash when your gaming...hmmmm

You could always try a fresh install but this time dont install the patches and see how you get on..
