Because then if you lose one/ it gets stolen then you have no drivers licence information. I think you need your paper part to apply for a new plastic, so if you lose your paper you've a hard job applying for a new one. There's no benefit to carrying your paper one with you, so why risk it?

I got ID'd for a lottery ticket when I was your age, I shook my car keys at her and said "Well heres my car keys so im 17 at least!"
She still made me drive home (she saw me drive away as well) and get my passport before I could buy the ticket.

Come to think of it the woman who served me knows how old i am (Local shop) lol.

Whilst I support checking anyone who could remotely look underage and always carry ID on me, this think 21 scheme is no replacement for common sense.

Because if you get mugged, not only will you of been beaten up and your bank account emptied, by the time you drag your sore kicked arse home they have burgled you as well because they know where you live.
I dont carry ANY Id on my at any time, and i spend half my time delivering Firearms and trying to get on Airforce bases.

Pretty hard to judge someone's personality in 20s at a cash register I would have thought
Personally I'm not overly happy at determining age based on things like eye contact, does that mean just because some kid looks the cashier in the eye he should be deemed of age?
Thought you had to show ID to get onto military bases these days?

Why buy a lottery ticket when you aren't 16? If you win, you can't be given any money.
If you want to carry your passport and get your id stolen yes.
