Hi all, just picked up crysis. I would like some tips on how to get the most out of the game with my rig, without playing a slide show.

I have 2 gig of 6400 ram, a e6600 running on a asus p5b and a radeon x1900xt 512...what res should i play on "i have a 24" dell"

Please give me some tips :P

On what to turn on and off ect.

So you have 1920x1200 native res?

You will need to set everything to medium in DX9 if you intend to play smoothly at native res. If you can lower it to say 1440x900 you should be able to play with some settings at high, I'd leave shadow quality, particle quality, and post processing to medium and turn motion blur off. For other options it pays to experience different settings to find the best balance for your machine.

i would play at a lower res...so maybe try 1440x900 with dx9 on high, and as u say shadow quality, particle quality, and post processing to medium and turn motion blur off?

i did a lot of tinkering with the demo

ran the first section at 16:10 native res on my monitor at all settings high just to see what happened

it crashed out once i got into some action [looked really pretty though]

i run it in dx10 mode in vistax64
most settings on medium
objects and light on very high
then just experimented with the rest

it really is something you have to spend time on to see how your rig reacts

for example
when i overclocked[and killed] my 7900gtx i got an ati hd2400 temporarily
it died in stalker all the time and just about ran CSS at playable with most stuff turned down

i went without food for a bit and got an 8800gt which plays stalker on max

this scenario is easy
but with something so intensive such as crysis you really have to put in all the hard work yourself to see how your individual system runs the game

let us know how you get on

Actually, just remembered. I played it on a rig similar to yours and the sweet sport was 1440x900, post processing on Low and everything else on Medium

latest issue of custom pc magazine has a very good guide that is scalable to most peoples average setup atm

i know this is an old thread but i thought it would help on the off chance

It should run a bit better than that since I was getting upto 50fps (IIRC don't have the card anymore) with 1800XT with everything on medium 1680*1050.

Then why do I need to play at 1280x1024 with all on high apart from shadows, motion blur, and post processing, just to get 30fps on an 8800GT?

I'd recommend trying 960x600 if it is available, should scale very well on that screen as it will be exactly 4 monitor pixels to 1 game pixel.
